afterhell-americangothic-proof3

Here's the third proof of the work in progress. Close to done I think. The blank on the left is room for CD title and other tidbits.

I wasn't happy with the eyes till today. I like her susie-homemaker-gone-bad look and I got the shadows in his eye sockets to make him look comically uncertain. And all the highlights are on. Did a printing proof of our laser printer and it looks pretty good too.

Sketchcrawling

Yesterday, I was doing a little Sketchcrawling...

The creases in the paper look far more extreme in the scan than the eye sees.

I didn't get as much time as I wanted, but it was fun. I especially like the last two pages, playing with limited pencil colors.

Summer (maybe not)

fields, originally uploaded by seian.

Sometimes it doesn't work. But I thought I'd post this anyway. These things do happen. I'm going to try for something more organic and curvy to flow with the first piece, Waves. There's some things I like about this one, but not enough to be happy with it all together.

Waves

During the show I had a table out and I created a picture for those coming through to see how and what I did. This is the piece I produced, which was almost finished in the two days of the show. All that remained was some highlights.

I rather like it. Simple but not boring. Stormy and serene at the same time.

I've also made it available in my new print shop, so this is as good a time as any to announce that too. I now have Zazzle.com for offering my prints in a print-on-demand basis. I've been looking a good while, and this seems to be the best way at this time. They do printing for Disney's Ink Shop and the Library of Congress, their prices are reasonable for the basic poster, as well as the archival ink versions, and I don't have to worry about holding on to a ton of stock, so it's a good situation all around.

A reminder that tomorrow, November 13th from Noon till 4pm, and Sunday November 14th from Noon till 4pm, will be the Autumn Art Show and Open Studio here at the Indian Orchard Mills. People will be able to see my unnaturally tidy workspace, as I will be cleaning up today and early tomorrow.

Oh, and come see the art. It's good too.

"Rosethorns" WIP3

"Rosethorns" WIP3, originally uploaded by seian.

"This sucks. All I'€™ve got is this stupid garland on my head, and blisters from this armor, while back there that gimp, Don Simon, is probably already trying to show Isabelle his 'war wounds'. I should'€™ve become a wool merchant like cousin Michael."

Art speaks to me, and sometimes not in a serious voice.
