This week's Illustration Friday theme is "Tranquility" and when I thought of it, I thought of balance... and then came to this.

Took me about two hours, as I ran through so many versions of it. I think the hardest thing about representing each of the elements with a color, is that I think of both Air and Water as "blue", especially against a white background. In this, I settled on a tattered yellow ribbon to represent air. And I'm rather fond of that rose-like blossom of fire.

Now that I've got my machine back in order, I'm back in the game of participating in Illustration Friday. This week: Karma.

Done in about an hour in Adobe Illustator. Couldn't get this image out of my head when I thought of the subject this week.

I'm backlogged on updates for this one. Here's another stage of in progress for a piece called "Monday's Ghosts."

And if you follow the Flickr link in, you can see an earlier stage right before it. I like how it's turning out. My style is really leaning toward nonrealism with color intensity and selection of colors... and I like it. Working on Yellow Ochre Fabriano Tiziano paper.
