watercolor tulips

watercolor tulips, originally uploaded by alida saxon.

A little different this week for watercolor, a floral study instead of landscape. Not a masterpiece by far, but there are things I like about it. I'm getting more comfortable with the media again.

All these watercolor studies I've been doing lately have been in about an hour and a half, without the use of a hair dryer to speed things up.

illofriday "strength"

illofriday "strength", originally uploaded by alida saxon.

One of three illustrations I've done this morning in a blitz to attempt to catch up on all the Illustration Friday subjects I've missed in the last month. "Strength" made me think of those big old trees that split sidewalks and push away foundations. Done in one hour. All of them have been done free hand in Adobe Illustrator.

illofriday
"Broken" done in a half hour.

illofriday
And "Night" done in an hour. "Night" made me think of some old illustations - I haven't a specific, but I'm sure it's imagery that's been well explored. Done in one hour.

The Studio

The Studio, originally uploaded by alida saxon.

The show went very nicely. The weather couldn't have been better, the traffic was nice and steady and I had some great comments on my work. And I'm exhausted. ;)

Fall Art Exhibition

Fall Art Exhibition, originally uploaded by alida saxon.

And my piece is on the postcard this show! Fingers crossed we get a great turn out. The weather is going to be beautiful, and we're seeing some good responses to the cards already.

Autumn Forest by Water

Autumn Forest by Water, originally uploaded by alida saxon.

Another tuesday watercolor, from a couple weeks ago. Very impressionist, especially for me, but I rather like it. The photo intensified the colors a bit, but not unrecognizably.

Halloween 2005

Halloween 2005, originally uploaded by alida saxon.

I think three times makes this officially a tradition for this shadowy critter.

Oh, and pretend I got this done on time for Halloween, okay?
